Leafy Greens, the Super food for Superheros
Ever since we were kids our parents have told us to eat our greens, but we were never given an explanation other than; ” it will grow hair on your chest”. But today we are going to uncover the mystery, and i am going to tell you how adding these leafy greens to your diet can make a huge difference in the appearance of your skin. Leafy greens have 4 main ingredients that make it a super food, which gives you the ability to look and feel like a superhero.


Lutein is an antioxidant that increases your skins natural protection layer against the harmful rays of the sun. This can be very helpful when you have sensitive skin, or if you are on Accutane and are extremely sensitive to the sun. The following are high in Lutein; beans, broccoli, corn, papaya, brussel sprouts, kale, winter squash, collards, spinach, swiss chard, green peas, arugula, brussel sprouts, broccoli rabe, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, carrots, asparagus, pistachios

Vitamin K

You may be asking yourself, why do i need vitamins that are this far into the alphabet. But you are wrong, vitamin K is a another essential ingredient to a healthy individual. Because it helps reduce acne blemishes and acne scaring, along with strengthening bones and preventing from blood clotting. Leafy greens should be added to everyone’s diet, but it is a must for those who take Accutane and need to get rid of bone aches. The following are high in vitamin k; kale, mustard greens, swiss chard, collard greens, spinach, broccoli, brussel sprouts, green beans, prunes, kiwi and avocado.


Folate is a part of the B-vitamins and is needed to transform red and white blood cells into bone marrow and is also a vital ingredient for DNA repair. DNA damage can be caused from what is known as a free radical; which causes severe damage to cells. Free radicals can cause DNA mutations which can affect our skin and cause cancers and other diseases. Having lots of folate in your diet reduces the event of free radicals causing damage in your body. The following are high in folate; citrus fruits, asparagus, beans, peas, avocado, broccoli, beets, carrots, squash and celery.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is another essential vitamin found with high concentrations in broccoli. Vitamin C helps rebuild and repair collagen and elasticity in the skin and around our organs.This can be extremely helpful for those who have acne or acne scaring. The following are high in Vitamin C; brussel sprouts, cauliflower, green peppers, red peppers, sweet potatoes and squash.

Leafy greens have many other health benefits such as: higher energy levels, fat burner, eliminates wrinkles, helps your heart, fights against diabetes and strengthens your gut. So if you want to look and feel like a superhero i suggest incorporating leafy greens into your diet, either through more salads or smoothies.
